With Summer just around the corner I got my mind on the annual #vanwolfs Dirty 30′s old guys trip. So far I heard no deets yets but I thought I would get this fire started with some lost footy from last years mayhem. My man Zeke came thru with this sweet little edit that I am stoked on. It’s so good that it doesn’t even need any music. The sounds of the pops and clacks of metal on metal is music to any skateboarders ears.
Hey I’m still here and to any of the readers out there sorry for the lack of activity. I had some other projects that came up recently but good thing some OULKHOMIES have been busy holding it down with the skate missions. I’ll try my best to keep this site interesting and update regularly with photos and videos of the OULK FAM gettin BUCK! Well to kick off the Sunny Season I decided to give the OULKsrose HQ ramp a make over and added on a 3 ft extension. I invited the FAM over for an afternoon BBQ and test run. It was also GYPSY-ASS KEVIN’s b-day so it was a good turn out. I was stoked to have everyone who came over and make such a fun afternoon out of a little bit of wood scraps. The following is the mini-rampage that took place.
Here’s the footy. The Janky-Cam needs a lil work so don’t pay attention to the spot on the left side. Enjoy!
Today I am sad to say that the legendary Santa Rosa DIY skatespot know as “The Slab” aka “The Ledge Spot” aka “Foley Street” has been torn down permanently. This spot was created by the collective creativity, love and energy of the Santa Rosa Skateboarding community. It ran strong for almost 3 years and I will have many fond memories of the good times that went down. I will miss swinging by after work and finding some homies to share a moment/beer with. I will miss getting the texts for meeting up at the ledge spot sessions. I feel fortunate to have hundreds of photos that documented some of the best days at the slab but most of all I feel fortunate that I had one last day to meet up, share stories of the hotrod stunts that were made and shred the hell out of the place. A big thanks goes out to the architects…UG, PG, Johnny, Stooey and everyone who ever threw down skrill, lent a hand, bled and sweat for common love of skateboarding and having a good ol’ time. Thanks for all memories!
Here are some photos from the last night at the ledge:
Ninja Tran – Kicc Flipp Front Krooks
Desmond – cracked boards don’t stop back tails from sliding
Looks as if a couple of the OG OULK homies have been twerkin on some videos and getting out on some stuntman hype sesshions. You should really check out MarlonSons site. He has a pretty tite lookin project goin on there. The next viddy is done by Philly Willy trying out his new go pro3 and hope to see more from him. Also check out theses sweet sequences of brown steez and the chalker mobbin out the other day.
Sometimes I like to be cruzin the tube, checking out some skate footy and rewinding the player to gurp out on some rad trick. It’s programing left over from looking at sequences in the skate mags all theses years and I always like a good sequence Lately I’ve been playing around with the high speed burst mode on the ol’ janky cam and googled up a reminder on how to make a gif image. Now you can just let it loop and get all tripped out on how hard RobbieV and Gypsy are shredding. I know its only like 3 fps ;( but you get the gist and hopefully your browser supports a gif format because if it doesn’t it’s kinda wak;( anyway I had a lot of fun making this so I think there might be more in the future or not since this is the end of the world. we will have to find out.
It all starts with a text – St Helena van run…who’s in?? Leave @1pm
Hector was trying to get some of the old guys out but this day it was just me and the ol’ greyhound holding it down for the elderly. Good thing some of the young gunz came thru to keep Rockin’ It. So it was Drewfus, Eddy Munz, Nards, Desmond, Hector and me. These guys keep me hyped on skateboarding. Here check it out for yourself!
Each year I look forward to the OULK Halloween Bash. We all get busy but this time of year is a great time to get together to skate and drink with your homies in costumes. It’s also nice to see everyone enjoying the park and showing the Santa Rosa Skatepark some love. I hope this keeps going for a long time. Here is some footy I put together from the best trick. It was amazing to see Steven Tran win it with a hardflip melon over element. Every one killed it!
